Damn Donald Trump for making this page necessary! The U.S. Supreme court declared the United States to be a fascist government with their ludicrous
Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, 558 U.S. decision in January 2010; then Trump got himself elected President against the will of The People, so building the Fascism and Mussolini pages was a good educational exercise. But now in 2018 Trump and Putin and their minions are scaring various serious pundits with talk of actual coup d'etat ! So this page is being built, because educating ourselves on the matter may help to prevent further such dire historical events.

"Tyranny naturally arises out of democracy."
Plato [427-347 BCE]

"There is no greater tyranny than that which is perpetrated under the shield of law and in the name of justice."
— Montesquieu [1689-1755]

"The secret of freedom lies in educating people, whereas the secret of tyranny is in keeping them ignorant."
— Maximilien Robespierre [1758-94]

"The response to tyranny . . . must always be this: Dismantle it."
— Barry Lopez

"An elective despotism is not the government [that] we fought for."   — Thomas Jefferson [1743-1826]

"All [that] tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."
— Edmund Burke [1729-97]

"If you are afraid to speak against tyranny, then you are already a slave."
— John Bryant [1943-2009]

"Totalitarianism has many forms . . ."   — G.E. Nordell

Capitalism is the creation of jobs and products and services; Wall Street has always been about piracy.
Communism (not socialism) is totalitarian politics and central control of commerce.
Socialism is collective ownership and-or management of commerce.
Democratic socialism advocates political democracy and social ownership of commerce.
Nazism advocates racism and totalitarian military control of everything.
Fascism is when the corporations and the military take government away from the people.
Democracy intends that government derives all power from the will and consent of the people.

"The White Disease" [1937]
A savage satire against dictatorship in Europe and the virus of inhumanity; written by Karel Capek [1890-1938]; first staged in Prague in 1937 and in London in 1938; adapted
by Hugo Haas as the film "Bílá Nemoc" in 1937. The title often shows as "The White Plague", but a more accurate English translation is "The White Disease".

The dictator of an unnamed country is gearing up for war; an incurable leprosy-like disease appears, which kills its victims within a year and seems to affect only those aged 45 and older. Since his war will be fought by teenagers and young men, the dictator ignores the problem. An eccentric doctor discovers a cure for the White Disease, but requires prospective patients to bring a financial statement: he cures only the poor, telling the wealthy to stop the war and he will cure them too. Then the dictator catches the disease . . .

circle-A symbol for anarchism              red-black flag of anarchism & anarcho-syndicalism
The Sub-Topic of Anarchy

Anarchism is a political philosophy and movement that rejects all involuntary, coercive forms of hierarchy. It calls for the abolition of the state which it holds to be undesirable, unnecessary, and harmful. Anarchy is often used as a synonym for chaos and destruction with anarchists seen as black-clad nihilists fomenting violence at peaceful protests. The official declaration of Anarchist principals took place at the first International, held in Switzerland in 1872. Syndicalism is a political and economic doctrine advocating control of the means and processes of production by organized bodies of workers. Like anarchists, syndicalists believe that any form of state is an instrument of oppression and that the state should be abolished. Viewing the trade union as the essential unit of production, syndacalists believe that trade unions should be the basic organizational unit of society. To achieve their aims, syndicalists advocate direct industrial action, such as general strikes, sabotage, work slowdowns, and otherwise disrupting the existing system of production. They eschew political action as both corruptive and self-defeating.

No matter what white supremicists say, Mississippi’s 1861 Ordinance of Secession leaves little doubt that slavery played the key role in causing the Civil War:
“Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery – the greatest material interest of the world. Its labor supplies the product which constitutes by far the largest and most important portions of commerce of the earth. These products are peculiar to the climate verging on the tropical regions, and by an imperious law of nature, none but the black race can bear exposure to the tropical sun. These products have become necessities of the world, and a blow at slavery is a blow at commerce and civilization.”
