  | "Chrysler's Turbine Car: The Rise and Fall of Detroit's Coolest Creation" [2010] by Steve Lehto, Foreword by Jay Leno In 1964, Chrysler built a fleet of turbine cars – automobiles with jet engines – and loaned them out to members of the public. The exercise was a raging success: the engines would run on any flammable liquid and contained one-fifth the number of moving parts, requiring much less maintenance; the cars had no radiators or fan belts and never needed oil changes. Yet Chrysler crushed & burned most of the cars two years later. Questions about how and why the program & technologies were killed have still not been satisfactorily answered. Fuel-Cell Vehicles
Having just seen the "Who Killed The Electric Car?" documentary, I am clear that hydrogen energy
and hydrogen vehicles will not work. The clincher is that the Bush administration helped kill
the electric car in California in order to help the big businesses involved in the bogus hydrogen programs.
Scientific work on hydrogen fuel cells continues nonetheless.
