Chrysler's Turbine Car book by Steve Lehto  "Chrysler's Turbine Car: The Rise and Fall of Detroit's Coolest Creation" [2010] by Steve Lehto, Foreword by Jay Leno
In 1964, Chrysler built a fleet of turbine cars – automobiles with jet engines – and loaned them out to members of the public. The exercise was a raging success: the engines would run on any flammable liquid and contained one-fifth the number of moving parts, requiring much less maintenance; the cars had no radiators or fan belts and never needed oil changes. Yet Chrysler crushed & burned most of the cars two years later. Questions about how and why the program & technologies were killed have still not been satisfactorily answered.

Self-Driving Vehicles

The future is nearly here. Uber has self-driving cars in Pittsburgh, and maybe San Francisco. Google has new patents. Tesla is testing a self-driving car in California. Working prototype autonomous vehicles are being developed by AKKA Technologies, Audi, Autoliv Inc., Bosch, Continental Automotive Systems, General Motors, Google Inc., Hyundai Motor Company, I.A.V. GmbH, Local Motors, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Oxford University, Peugeot, Renault, Tesla Motors, Toyota, VISlab (University of Parma), and Volvo.
