Quotations from
Wm. Shakespeare [1564-1616]

English poet and playwright William Shakespeare is believed born 23 April 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England. His first authenticated plays are dated to 1590. Scholars argue over the details, but Will wrote about thirty-eight plays, about 154 sonnets, and a variety of other poems. Will was a popular actor and playwright in London; he moved to the Bishopsgate area of London in 1598. His stage company performed at the Curtain Theater in Shoreditch, London from 1597 until 1599, when they moved to the newly-built Globe Theater in Southwark, London. He seems to have retired to Stratford in 1613, where he died on 23 April 1616.      2016 color portrait of Wm. Shakespeare by Geoff Tristram in U.K.
