Quotations from
humorist Will Rogers [1879-1935]

American humorist William Penn Adair 'Will' Rogers was born in the Indian Territory (now part of Oklahoma) to a prominent family of the Cherokee Nation. He began his entertainment career on the vaudeville circuits as a trick rope artist and began telling jokes to prevent boredom in the audience. He traveled around the world three times, made 71 movies (50 silent films and 21 'talkies'), starred on his won radio show, and wrote more than 4,000 nationally-syndicated newspaper columns. He died at age 55 when his airplane, piloted by aviator Wiley Post, crashed in Point Barrow, Alaska.
