American politician Franklin Delano 'F.D.R.' Roosevelt served in the New York State Senate 1911-13, as Assistant Secretary of the Navy 1913-20, as Governor of New York 1929-32, and was elected to four terms as President of the United States. His New Deal policies caused America's recovery from the Great Depression and he died just months before the Allies won World War II.
